Safari-style Tents
Stay close to nature—without giving up comfort. Our cozy and spacious 12' x 14' safari-style canvas tent-cabins offer stunning views and thoughtful amenities. Each tent includes interior and exterior solar lighting, a charging station for small devices, a writing/game table with chairs, and a covered deck with patio seating. Enjoy rug-covered floors, screened doors and windows, and plenty of privacy—all in a peaceful, natural setting.

Camp McCarthy is glamping at its best!
Each tent is thoughtfully furnished with luxury mattresses, cozy bedding, ultra-warm down comforters, and hot water bottles to keep you toasty through the night. Small portable heaters are available upon request for an additional fee.
Two very clean, well-maintained outhouses are just a short walk from the tents and the Pavilion. Please note: guests should be comfortable with stairs and walking on uneven natural terrain.
The Pavilion
The Pavilion is the gathering space for Camp McCarthy guests. This beautiful log/framed structure offers an incredible 360 view of the McCarthy/Kennicott valley. The Pavilion features showers, handwashing sinks, toiletry cupboards, food pantry storage area, café tables and chairs, a campfire ring, a propane burner for the hot water kettle to make coffee/tea etc., an outdoor game area with Corn Hole, and private nature trail.
Snacks and ready-to-eat foods are welcome in the Pavilion (i.e., baked goods, sandwich fixings, cereal, instant oatmeal, charcuterie plates, salads, etc.), but for bear safety, Camp is not set up to cook full, hot meals. There are fantastic restaurants in the area you won’t want to miss!

Located just a two-mile drive to the end of the McCarthy Road and the footbridge that crosses the Kennicott River, Camp McCarthy allows guests easy access to the historic ghost towns of McCarthy and Kennicott. Explore on your own or take advantage of one of the amazing local guide services. Opportunities include hiking, rafting, paddle boarding, flightseeing, historic tours, dining, nature walks, and more.
