Cozy Wilderness Tents

At Camp McCarthy, we believe nature and comfort belong together. Nestled in Wrangell–St. Elias National Park, our retreat offers the perfect balance of wilderness adventure and cozy relaxation.

Each tent includes:

  • Interior and exterior solar lighting

  • A charging station for small devices

  • A writing/game table with chairs

  • A covered deck with patio seating

Enjoy screened doors and windows for a bug-free stay, rug-covered floors, and plenty of privacy—all in a peaceful, natural, and beautiful setting.

Camp McCarthy is glamping at its best. Each tent is thoughtfully furnished with luxury mattresses, cozy bedding, ultra-warm down comforters, and hot water bottles to keep you toasty through the night. Small portable heaters are available upon request for an additional fee.

Two very clean, well-maintained outhouses are just a short walk from the tents and the Pavilion. Please note that guests should be comfortable with stairs and walking on uneven natural terrain.

The Pavilion

The Pavilion is Camp McCarthy’s central gathering space, a beautiful log-framed structure with sweeping views of the McCarthy–Kennicott valley. Inside, you’ll find showers, handwashing sinks, toiletry cupboards, a food pantry, café tables, and cozy seating. Outside, enjoy a campfire ring, outdoor games, and a private nature trail.

Guests are welcome to bring snacks and simple ready-to-eat foods, but for bear safety, Camp is not set up for cooking full meals. Luckily, there are wonderful local restaurants nearby you’ll definitely want to try!
